In 2023, Marmaris participated in the first tourism fair of the year, the Utrecht Tourism Fair in the Netherlands. Marmaris Mayor Mehmet Oktay expressed great interest in Marmaris, stating, "We conveyed our preparations for the new season and expressed our great pleasure in welcoming our Dutch guests."
The first major tourism fair of 2023 opened in the city of Utrecht in the Netherlands. Marmaris was among the participants at the Vakantiebeurs Utrecht Tourism Fair, which opened its doors after two years. While the promotion of Marmaris' natural, cultural, and historical treasures took place at the booth of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, Marmaris Mayor Mehmet Oktay personally attended the fair.
IMPORTANT MEETINGS HELD
Mayor Oktay, along with GETOB President Mustafa Deliveli, Marmaris Municipality Council Member Ali Kırlı, Deputy Mayor Ali Zağlı, hoteliers, and tourism representatives, attended the fair where travel professionals gathered and business agreements were made. The Marmaris delegation held important meetings to expand the Dutch market and shape the operations for the year 2023. Meetings were held with travel agencies, tour operators, and airline company representatives, and the promotion of the district was also carried out at the Marmaris booth.
The Marmaris delegation conducted meetings with Oğuz Selçuk, Sunweb Turkey Director; Atakan Aksu, Ege Region Product Manager; Mehmet Perk, Summer Tour Dalaman Region Manager; Deniz Yasa, Ege Region Manager; and Alim Öztekin, Azerbaijan Business Development Manager. Additionally, a meeting was held with Şükrü Önal, the Director of Corendon, one of the most important tour operators.
GREAT INTEREST IN MARMARIS
Reflecting on the fair, Mayor Oktay stated that after a successful season, they promptly began preparations for the 2023 season. He said, "We started our international efforts to increase Marmaris' market share and conduct discussions for the 2023 season. We also participated in the Vakantiebeurs Utrecht Tourism Fair, the first event of 2023. Here, we conveyed our preparations for the new season and expressed our great pleasure in welcoming our Dutch guests. There is significant interest in Marmaris, which both delighted us and increased our hopes for 2023. We will continue to work collaboratively with our stakeholders and maintain our efforts with collective wisdom."
